Michael joined Colby & Powell, PLC in 2024 and currently serves as a Tax Manager. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Michael has practiced exclusively in tax throughout his public accounting career, with a dedicated focus on assisting individuals, small and large businesses, and nonprofit organizations in navigating complex tax matters. His experience includes tax preparation, tax research, advisory, and planning services, as well as representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service on income tax matters and related issues.
Prior to joining Colby & Powell, Michael gained tax experience in public accounting with both a national top 100 firm and a global top 10 firm, in addition to accounting roles within higher education. This experience has provided him with a broad understanding of tax compliance and advisory needs across a range of client types.
Michael was born and raised in Mesa. After completing his church missionary service and earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Utah, he returned to Mesa; where he later earned his Master of Accounting from Arizona State University. During his college years, he volunteered as an accounting tutor and participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Michael lives in Mesa with his wife and daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys staying current with emerging tax matters, working with technology, paddleboarding on the Salt River, and spending time with his family.
